La Sombra y Las Aguas Subterráneas (The Shadow and Subterranean Waters) is a personal project and exploration that lived with me for over a year. It’s been a tactile channel, facilitating a period of major transformation and discovery.

There’s something about these cutouts that I like a lot more spread on a workspace under natural light than up on a wall, cut off from the context of reality. Like they’re not meant to be elevated; they’re supposed to stay humble, ephemeral, and ‘in progress’ like the paper-thin moments of daily life piling up, floating in and out and sometimes cutting, when we least expect it.

This series has been a process of shifting shadow and light, diving into the symbols of the subconscious and exposing the flimsy facade of material reality.
