Leanne Bock (also known as Le Riquiqui) is a visual artist who exhibits and undertakes residencies locally and internationally, with a parallel career in design/illustration since 2002.

My artistic practice playfully explores the intersection of overlapping realities: personal and collective, conscious and unconscious, abstract and concrete, constructed and natural.

Drawing on research from holistic philosophies, Jungian psychology, embodied cognition and cultural criticism, and through daily writing and practices, I work with everyday objects and makeshift materials to create experimental visual languages. Flirting with the absurd, open narratives are composed, where the familiar becomes strange and the banal acquires a poetic dimension, inviting contemplation on the malleability, fragmentation and interconnection of the contemporary realities we inhabit.

My work spans drawing, video, projection, collage, sculptural assemblage and installation, often comprising ephemeral materials or what’s on hand contextually: translations of a nomadic life, shifting internal states and evolving personal mythologies.

I was born in the remote, subtropical town of Theodore, Queensland, and have since lived and worked throughout Australia, the UK, France and Latin America, maintaining fluency in Spanish as part of everyday life and art-making. Currently based in Naarm/Melbourne, I hold a Master of Contemporary Art (Victorian College of the Arts, 2021) and work from my home studio in Pascoe Vale.
