5km NSWE
30min colour video, silent.
In the spirit of psychogeography and out of frustration for geographic restrictions and dreary domestic routine during stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne, 2020, I took myself out on a walking project adventure, to the edge of limitation.
On separate days, I walked exactly 5km North (panel 1), 5km South (panel 2), 5km West (panel 3) and 5km East (panel 4) from my house in Coburg, with my phone strung around my neck as you do, capturing the journey in timelapse mode.
I ended up at a shopping strip in Fawkner; a cemetery in Carlton; a house for sale in Essedon; and a traffic island in Preston.
It was kind of like a holiday.
